Warbreaker (Sci Fi Essential Books)

Warbreaker (Sci Fi Essential Books) - Brandon Sanderson Using recognizable archetypes and an elaborate world all his own, Sanderson has written a very enjoyable fantasy novel that manages to avoid the genre's stereotypes. In an industry of sequels and series, Warbreaker is a nice surprise, too, as a successful standalone novel – the opportunity to expand the adventures is there, surely, but the book doesn’t drag out its own plot, delay any character growth, or feel rushed to conclusion for the sake of setting up a sequel. I’ve already added more titles from Sanderson on my To-Read list, and am excited to have found an author comparable to Patrick Rothfuss and Brent Weeks for excellent plotting, sharp characters, and fully realized fantasy worlds.
